 Schools
Public Schools
Lee County public schools practice "school choice",
which give parents and students the chance to attend
whatever school they desire, no matter their physical
distance. Many of the schools are deemed "magnet" schools,
because they draw students by providing extra opportunities
in certain fields of study.
Alternatives
New to Cape Coral are charter schools available to
students at all levels. Both the city and an independent
agency run these schools, and they are not connected.
Higher Education
Higher education
opportunities abound, with something for every need. Edison
College offers two and four year degrees at community
college prices. Lee County is also home to Florida Gulf
Coast University, which offers undergraduate and graduate
degrees. Multiple private schools offer career specific
degrees and certificates, and licensing schools are prolific
in every area from captain's licenses, beauty schools and
real estate licensing. The
Academic Village in north Cape Coral will be home for branch
campuses of various schools, including Nova Southeastern
University, which holds classes near City Hall for now. FGCU
also holds some classes in Cape Coral.
