Florida Quality of Life
Schools

Florida education options abound and are governed by
local school districts, which are self-governing and collect
their own taxes. Private schools and home schooling options
are also plentiful in Florida.
Higher education options abound, with a large state
university system, many community colleges, and private
schools that provide an level of education, from certificate
to graduate degrees.
Bugs
While insects, mosquitoes in particular,
can proliferate in waterfront areas,
Florida is well prepared. Our
mosquito control districts constantly
monitor the population of insects and
promptly responds with the needed amount
of controls. Their ability to keep
Florida comfortable and welcoming is a
joy.
Homes are prepared for the occasional
outbreak - you can sit comfortably in your screened
lanai.
Return to Top Weather and Geography
 Despite the state's reputation as
a tropical paradise, there are multiple climates within
Florida. The coasts do enjoy subtropical weather year-round,
with temperatures in the 80s and 90s most of the year.
Inland areas see a wider range of temperatures, and
sometimes experience frost in winter. Farther north, colder
days allow for growing plants that need some chilly nights,
and the farthest northern areas see a small amount of snow
on occasion! While a lot of Florida is flat, the center and
northern areas have beautiful rolling hills covered with oak
trees dripping Spanish moss. There is truly something for
everyone here.

Florida is an incredibly fast growing state, and the
economy thrives on both seasonal visitors and the
construction that accompanies our fast growth. The medical
sector and government also provide wide job opportunities.
"Baby Boomer" dollars continue to move southward, as many
families are retiring at much earlier ages than before.
Young families are also moving in, decreasing the average
age of a Florida family considerably from times past.

Because Florida caters to visitors from
across the world, transportation is easy accessible both
nationally and internationally. International airports dot
the state, and there are several ports with everything from
industrial to cruise liners capacity. Interstates line both
coasts, and the Florida Turnpike connects the heavy tourist
corridor in the center. Rental cars are available in
airports and towns, and buses run both within towns and from
town to town.
